How to: Paint Animated Mulan
This tutorial demonstrates how to sketch/outline Mulan, paint Mulan using the correct color selection from our Watercolor Paint Tubes, and how to add detail to the painting once it is completely dry!
Let's get started!
LIST OF SUPPLIES:
1. GenCrafts Watercolor Paper
2. Paintbrushes
3. Paper towel
4. Paint Palette
5. A cup of water
6. A black pen for inking
7. A ruler for precision
8. GenCrafts Set of 50 Watercolor Paint Tubes: W108, W113, W114, W141, W142, W148, W104.
Step 1: Draw a circle shape for the head and add a mid line for the facial features.
Step 2: Draw the center line for the neck and the center of her body.
Step 3: Draw an ellipse in the center to represent her torso.
Step 4: Draw another circle for her pelvis and curved lines for her arms and legs.
Step 5: Connect the torso and pelvis line together.
Step 6: Add another pair of lines to the arms and legs to add volume.
Step 7: Draw 2 lines on both legs for the thigh to taper into the knee.
Step 8: Draw a long diamond-like shape for the calves.
Step 9: Draw a triangular and diamond shape for her feet

Step 12: For the leaves lightly glide the center of the paint brush either towards you or away from you to create the shape of the leaves.
Step 10: Grab a ruler and outline the edges of the sword for a precise shape.
Step 17: Again for the leaves, lightly glide the center of the paint brush either towards you or away from you to create the shape of the leaves.
Step 11: Begin drawing a cross over robe towards the center of her torso and continue down to her knees.
Step 12: Outline a belt in the middle of her robe
Step 13: Outline rectangular shapes to represent the armor on the bottom half of her robe.
Step 17: Again for the leaves, lightly glide the center of the paint brush either towards you or away from you to create the shape of the leaves.
Step 14: Outline almond shaped eyes, a nose, and mouth on her face (as show in the tutorial video)
Step 15: Outline the shape of her hair (as show in the tutorial video)
Step 16: For the skin tone, apply the color W108 Beige to her face, neck, and hand.
Step 17: For her red robe, mix the colors W114 Scarlet and W113 Crimson together to create the right shade of red.
Step 18: Paint the robe leaving the armor area on the bottom half blank.
Step 19: Before applying the hair color in W141 Black, be sure that the skin is dried COMPLETELY to avoid it bleeding into the skin. to create the shape of the leaves.
Step 20: For the armor, apply the color W142 Grey to cover the entire area. Details will be added later when this layer dries.
Step 21: For her boots and her belt, apply the color W148 Dark Brown.
Step 22: Once the armor area is dry, grab your brush and mix a little grey with black to create a slightly darker grey color.
Step 23: Create vertical lines with a flat brush to represent the little plates in her armor.
Step 24: Add the color W104 Dijon to the handle of the sword W142 Grey to the blade.
Step 25: Once the paint is completely dry, use a black brush pen to begin inking.
Step 26: To add more interest, add pressure and variance to certain parts.
